Useful Resources for Getting Started with Flex

In anticipation of our upcoming meeting, I thought I would do a quick rundown on some resources that you may find useful if you are just getting started with Flex or if you are looking to learn a little more about Flex.

Flex.org - This is the portal for all things Flex.

MXNA Blog Aggregator -  This site aggregates blog postings from all aroung the Adobe developer community.

Flex Developer Center - This site features tutorials and articles about Flex.

Flexcoders - The mailing list for Flex developers.  If you have a question, this is a good place to start.

As3corelib - A very useful set of open-source AS3 libraries.  These libraries are necessary if you want to use the AS3 Flickr library, or any of the other AS3 libraries

Scalenine - The place to go for Flex themes.

FlexBox - A directory of the various Flex components that are available on the internet.

FlexLib - Open-source Flex components that are all built using a standard package.

video.onflex.org - A collection of videos about Flex, including video interviews with Flex developers.

RIAForge - A collection of open-source projects built using Adobe technologies.

Osflash.org - Many open-source Flash/Flex projects.  Including the open-source Flash RTMP Server, Red5.

Adobe Labs - Labs contains Betas of upcoming products, as well as useful developer tools, such as the Flex Component Kit for Flash CS3, which makes it extremely easy to create customized Flex components using Flash.

Yahoo AS3 APIs - This site includes APIs for Yahoo Search, Maps, Weather, and more.

Papervision 3D - An open-source 3D engine written in AS3.  Click here to view an underwater demo.  For another example of 3D in Flex, check out this demo by Outsmart.  This was done using an engine developed by Outsmart.

I am sure there are more out there, but this should definitely be enough to get you started.  Happy reading and see you Thursday evening where we will announce another great local Flex resource.
